London Experience Week’s Experience Safari is all about opening doors into the city’s most exciting experiences – and this year, one of its standout invitations leads straight into the world of David Bowie.
On 22 April 2026, LXW26 attendees will have the chance to join an exclusive opening night visit to David Bowie: You’re Not Alone at Lightroom in King’s Cross. The package includes a free ticket to the 5:00–6:30pm show, welcome drinks, and the opportunity to stay on for networking afterwards. It’s a limited-capacity event, available exclusively to LXW26 attendees on a first come, first served basis.
More than just a night out, this is a chance to experience one of London’s most ambitious new immersive productions at the moment it launches. David Bowie: You’re Not Alone promises a powerful journey through Bowie’s performances, ideas and creative spirit, bringing together iconic footage, rarely heard interviews and never-before-exhibited archive material. Told solely in Bowie’s own voice, the show is designed to feel both spectacular and intimate – part multimedia event, part self-portrait.
The setting makes it even more special. Since opening in King’s Cross, Lightroom has quickly established itself as one of London’s most important immersive venues, known for combining monumental projection, spatial sound and world-class creative collaboration. Conceived as a home for artist-led immersive storytelling, it has already become synonymous with bold cultural experiences at scale, from David Hockney: Bigger & Closer to The Moonwalkers, Vogue: Inventing the Runway and Prehistoric Planet.
That makes Bowie a natural fit. Drawing on thousands of hours of film from the David Bowie Archive in New York, the new experience spans decades of music, performance, imagery and reinvention — from Space Oddity and Diamond Dogs through to Heroes and Blackstar. Across Lightroom’s huge projected canvas, audiences will encounter photography, drawings, handwritten lyrics, notes and sketches, woven together into a chapter-based experience exploring Bowie’s creativity, theatricality, spirituality and cultural impact.
It also carries serious creative weight. The production is created by Lightroom, designed by 59, a Journey studio, and directed by Mark Grimmer — Creative Director of the V&A’s landmark David Bowie Is exhibition — alongside Tom Wexler. It has been developed in close collaboration with, and authorised by, the David Bowie Estate, giving the show both scale and authenticity. The sound has also been specially configured for Lightroom’s HOLOPLOT spatial audio system by Gareth Fry, whose work includes Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and David Bowie Is.
Lightroom’s own leadership has spoken about the venue as a space where audiences can step inside an artist’s imagination — and there may be no better subject than Bowie. Executive Producer David Sabel has described Lightroom as a uniquely powerful format for entering an artist’s creative universe, while CEO Richard Slaney has spoken about the ambition to give world-class creative minds the tools to make something genuinely new.
For the Experience Safari community, that makes this much more than an exclusive ticket. It is a rare chance to experience firsthand how archive, technology, scenography and sound can combine to create something emotionally rich, culturally ambitious and genuinely transportive. For anyone interested in the future of immersive storytelling, it offers a front-row view of where the category is heading next.
“This is exactly the kind of Experience Safari moment London Experience Week is designed to create,” said WXO Head of Content Mike Goldsmith. “Exclusive access to world-class work, and a chance to experience firsthand how bold creative ideas are being brought to life.”
In other words: Bowie’s world, Lightroom’s canvas, and a room full of people shaping the future of experiences – all in one opening-night invitation.
